This comprehensive instrumentation suite enables precise measurements of stable isotope ratios (H, C, N, O, S, and Cl) in a wide range of materials, including silicate, phosphate, and carbonate minerals, volcanic gases, air, and water samples, supporting pioneering research in isotope geochemistry.

The Center for Dynamics and Control of Materials: an NSF MRSEC brings together researchers from across science and engineering to create materials with new atomic-scale structures and functionalities, and to develop approaches for actively controlling and reconfiguring materials in real time. These materials will enable the development of new and improved technologies in areas such as sustainable energy, quantum information processing, bioinspired systems, and semiconductors for telecommunications, computing, and sensing.

The Sauer Structural Biology Laboratory is a state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility that houses a TFS Titan Krios and a TFS Glacios. The Krios is equipped with a Gatan BioContinuum imaging filter and K3 direct electron detector, enabling its use for high-resolution single-particle and tomographic imaging of macromolecular machines. The TFS Glacios is equipped with a TFS Falcon IV direct electron detector for high-resolution single-particle imaging and a TFS CETA-D camera for high-resolution micro -ED data. The facility also houses the equipment required for high-resolution structure determination of thin vitrified samples.
