eProtocol provides a common tool for principal investigators, research staff and committee members to prepare, submit, review and communicate about research protocols. The system allows for the online submission, review, routing and tracking of requests, helping to eliminate errors and improving collaboration, communication and efficiency.
Access to eProtocol is restricted to current faculty, staff and students. All personnel involved with biological or animal research must be listed as personnel on the lab’s respective project before initiating work. If unable to log onto eProtocol with a UT EID, please follow the guidelines below for access to each eProtocol system.
The UT Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is responsible for the review, approval and oversight of the use of recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules (rsNA) research, biohazardous agents, materials and toxins in all research or teaching activities conducted at or sponsored by the University.
The IACUC approves and provides continued oversight of animal research, teaching and testing activities. eProtocol IACUC allows for the online submission, review, routing and tracking of animal utilization proposals (AUP or protocol) and Animal Utilization Registration Forms (AURFs).
The eAnimal Ordering system allows for the online submission, review, routing and tracking of vertebrate research animal order requests. Only persons approved by the IACUC to participate in an animal research project can request the purchase of animals for that project. Animal ordering is overseen by the Animal Resources Center.
