IRB Dates, Deadlines & Fees

The Social Behavioral and Education IRB and Health Sciences IRB hold meetings monthly for the review of studies that are submitted for full board review. The Health Sciences IRB holds a second monthly meeting solely for the continuing review of approved research. IRB meetings are not open to observers. However, the board does occasionally invite researchers into the meeting if their study is being reviewed and board members have questions about it.

Researchers who have submitted a study for full board review and wish to be available for possible invitation into the IRB meeting may send an email to irb@austin.utexas.edu requesting an invitation.

Social, Behavioral and Educational IRB

All meetings are held virtually on a Monday, usually beginning at 1:00 p.m. Dates and times are subject to change.

Health Sciences IRB

All meetings are held virtually on a Wednesday, usually beginning at 12:15 p.m. Dates and times are subject to change.

IRB Fees

Effective February 1, 2026, UT Austin has implemented a new and simplified IRB fee structure for industry sponsored clinical trials and funded multi-site research where the UT IRB is designated as the reviewing IRB for participating sites. Fees are now grouped into two main types (initial submission and annual maintenance) to reduce complexity and improve transparency.
