October OVPR staff profile: Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) executive assistant Melissa Huebsch

We speak with self-described "mathophile," avid gamer and long-time Austinite Stephanie Tomlinson, who just happens to also be a senior grants and contracts specialist in the OVPR.

While not born here, Jason Watson has earned honorary ‘unicorn status’ as an Austin native. Aside from the day-to-day responsibilities of maintaining UT Austin’s formidable research-focused web presence, we can also thank Jason for his part in the relaunch of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors’ website earlier this year.

Like so many other members of our community at the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors, core facilities program coordinator Rebecca Fitch supports campus researchers in a dynamic role that allows her to blend her project management skills with her passion for research support.

Karen Holguin is the Human Resources coordinator with the Financial and Administrative Services team in the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors. Originally from Mexico City, the enthusiastic traveler has called Austin home for the past year.

Veteran UT man and avid reader Jeff Daily has spent almost two decades on the Forty Acres, bringing valuable experience and expertise to the Research Development team in the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors.

Caroline Schomer joined UT Austin in 2022 and plays a pivotal role in the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and Institutional Biosafety Committee ensuring researchers follow regulations in a sensitive and complex research arena.

Sara Hernando is Assistant Director for Research Engagements in OVPR and works as part of the Research Development team, managing strategic partnerships with key collaborators engaging in research on the Forty Acres. Read more in our latest OVPR staff profile series.
