OSP UTRMS Grants & Awards Training

Training for the Grants and Awards modules of UTRMS will be provided on a quarterly rotation via Zoom. All classes run 1.5 hours and provide a demonstration of how to navigate and use UTRMS for proposal submission and award management of sponsored projects.

Class Descriptions

The UTRMS Overview session will provide information on the new Grants module for Sponsored Projects. Information to be covered includes Sponsored Projects workflow and lifecycle, a demonstration of the system and existing support resources.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Navigate the UTRMS system, including opening existing Funding Proposals and Awards
  • Initiate a proposal within UTRMS
  • Recognize system workflow

This session will cover the creation of a Funding Proposal, Budget Proposal, and SF424 submission package within the UTRMS Grants system to be submitted to the Office of Sponsored Projects. The attendee will learn how to prepare a proposal for submission using the UTRMS system to system submission system as well as submission steps for non-system to system submissions.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Create, complete and submit a Funding Proposal
  • Create and complete a detailed budget
  • Complete SF424 (System to System) forms for federal submissions
  • Execute post submission activities, such as JIT

This session will discuss the various post-submission activities that can occur after an initial Funding Proposal has been completed, such as JIT, anticipated funding, resubmission, renewal or revision proposals.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Navigate and update a funding proposal to conduct post submission activities
  • Navigate to an award to conduct post submission, active award activity
  • Navigate to an unfunded submission to resubmit for another review

This session will discuss how to create a detailed budget within the UTRMS Grants system, including considerations such as subrecipients, cost share and sponsor specific budgeting, such as NIH Modular Budgets.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Navigate and understand components of a Funding Proposal instrumental to creating a detailed budget
  • Navigate and complete detailed budgeting
  • Navigate and complete subaward budgeting
  • Understand how budgeting within UTRMS transfers to sponsor forms

This session will discuss how to create a NIH Modular and NIH Training detailed budgets within the UTRMS Grants system. Knowledge of how to create detailed budgets for other submissions is recommended.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how budgeting within UTRMS transfers to sponsor forms
  • Budget for NIH specific programs

This session will discuss the Awards component of UTRMS Grants for sponsored projects. Topics to be discussed include an overall navigation and knowledge of the award module, how to respond to award edits prior to full setup, and how to manage post award activities such as letters of agreement, create subawards, award modifications and continuations.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how data from a Funding Proposal leads to a linked Award document
  • Navigate to an award and update budgeting components
  • Pull all final award components of an award
  • Navigate and access Link to Account Balances in DEFINE via UTRMS
