The Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program was established by the Carnegie Corporation of New York in 2015 to recognize a select group of extraordinary scholars and writers who receive philanthropic support for scholarship in the humanities and social sciences that addresses important and enduring issues confronting our society.

The Ralph Alger Bagnold Medal was established by the Geomorphology Division of the European Geosciences Union in commemoration of the scientific achievements of Ralph Alger Bagnold. It is awarded to individuals in recognition of their outstanding scientific contributions to the study of geomorphology.
