The CHIPS for Science report lays out recommendations for how Texas and the nation can build broad-based access to an advanced packaging ecosystem to support scientific discovery and leverage major public investments in semiconductor manufacturing.
Providing broad-based access to advanced packaging facilities will strengthen U.S. microelectronics leadership while expanding capabilities in scientific instrumentation, biomedical systems, environmental sensing, quantum systems, AI-enabled hardware and other low-volume, high-value microsystems.
This report reflects input from more than 70 experts spanning universities, national laboratories, industry and government who took part in a National Science Foundation-funded convening at The University of Texas at Austin in October 2025.
