MD Anderson – UT Austin Strategic Collaboration
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT Austin’s strategic collaboration promotes joint research projects between the two institutions. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and the utilization of institution-specific technologies, the program aims to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into tangible health outcomes.
Collaborative Accelerator for Transformative Research Endeavors
MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT Austin recently announced the creation of a new program and funding opportunity to foster groundbreaking research. The Collaborative Accelerator for Transformative Research Endeavors will identify and support research initiatives that can grow to scale, break new ground in select fields, and become signature accomplishments for both institutions. Cross-institutional collaborative teams are invited to submit proposals for up to $4 million in seed funding over 4.5 years to conduct complex research projects in areas relevant to cancer research. Proposals on any topic relevant to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment or survival are invited.
Upcoming Opportunities for Engagement
The third annual UT Austin and MD Anderson Collaborative Research Summit will be held Sept. 26-27, 2024 in Austin at the AT&T Conference Center. Registration is now open.
Members of the UT research community who are interested in groundbreaking cancer-related research or learning about or building a research collaboration with MD Anderson researchers are encouraged to attend the Summit and explore upcoming scheduled events.
It Starts With...Collaboration
The MD Anderson – UT Austin Strategic Collaboration began in 2019 with the creation of pilot funded research projects and communities of practice that allowed researchers to connect over mutual research interests. Investigators and leadership worked together to identify research themes of mutual interest, which included:
- Early-Onset Colorectal Cancer (EOCRC)
- Obesity
- Frontiers of Neuroscience
- Population Health
Five rounds of seed projects were funded prior to the launch of the Collaborative Accelerator for Transformative Research Endeavors.
