Does the ARC have permission to feed or water these cages in the event of no food or water is present and the PI can not be reached?
If the ARC cannot feed or water cages in any circumstance, the researchers MUST check cages and document daily (including weekends and holidays). The orange restriction cards or the PI checklist is used to do this. Please check with the supervisor if you have any questions regarding daily documentation.
Have the cages been labeled?
I understand that this request indicates that our lab is instituting nonstandard feeding or watering that has been approved by the IACUC and that it is now the lab’s responsibility to check cages for food and water on a daily basis (including holidays and weekends) and to properly maintain the checklists or other documentation as required.
