NIH Resources

Proposal Preparation and Submission

NIH is the largest public funder of biomedical research in the world. The NIH provides financial support in the form of grants, cooperative agreements and contracts to support the advancement of the NIH mission to enhance health, extend healthy lives and reduce the burdens of illness and disability.

For application specifics, including guidance on writing applications, developing budgets, formatting rules and standard due dates, visit the How to Apply section of the NIH Grants and Funding page. Each type of NIH grant program has its own set of eligibility requirements. Applicants can find eligibility information in Section III of each funding opportunity.

NIH Disclosure Requirements

NIH provides guidance for the disclosure of activities and support to assist in the submission and award management of a sponsored project. Find NIH requirements for disclosure at various stages of the proposal/award and COI reporting processes. Download the NIH pre-award and post-award disclosure table (PDF) to use as a resource when preparing a biographical sketch and other support.

NIH Award Management

Prior Approval

Reporting Requirements

Post-award reporting requirements can vary both by award as well as timeline. The Post Award Monitoring and Reporting page on NIH Grants and Funding provides an overview of select monitoring and reporting requirements. Full details are included in the Grants Policy Statement. Each award will detail the reporting requirements and post-award process. For questions, contact your OSP Post-award specialist.
