Led by PhD student Yonathan Magendzo Behar, from the Wasserman Mid-IR Photonics Lab, the paper "Resonant enhancement of ultra-thin long wave infrared photodetectors for high-temperature operation," was recently published in Optica.
This work, sponsored by the Army Research Office and performed at the UT Microelectronics Research Center, shows that ultra-thin detector structures can be built into resonant photonic architectures after epitaxial growth, boosting detector response while keeping dark currents low. That points toward high-temperature operation for long wavelength infrared photodetectors.
