The Biomedical Research Supplies Core (BioResCo) supports researchers with access to molecular biology supplies and DNA services, including 24/7 availability of primers, dry ice, and liquid nitrogen - along with convenient drop-off services for sequencing.
Services
BioResCo provides molecular biology reagents, custom primers/oligos, and drop box services for DNA/plasmid sequencing and histology. For assistance with access, account set up, product pricing/availability, contact BioResCo.
Reagents/Freezer Program
Reagents are available via New England Biolabs (NEB) and ThermoFisher automated kiosks that are accessible 24/7 to registered users.
User Guide:
- Kiosks are in MBB 1.316.
- Contact BioResCo for access to MBB after the university’s regular business hours.
- Special Orders placed before midnight on Monday are delivered on Wednesday.
- Special Orders placed after midnight on Monday will be delivered the following week on Wednesday.
- Special orders are available only through the NEBNow kiosk, which is also the pick-up location.
Primers/Oligos
Custom primers/oligos can be ordered through the Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) and Sigma online portals and are shipped overnight.
User Guide:
- Include contact phone numbers in your primer/oligos account profiles.
- For Sigma, use “UTAUSTIN-DNA CORE” as registration code.
- Once delivered, orders are available for pickup at BioResCo (FNT 1.112).
- Please sign out your order(s) on the provided shipment list.
Sanger, Plasmid Sequencing and Fragment Analysis
Sanger sequencing, whole plasmid sequencing, and fragment analysis services are provided by ACGT Inc., Eton Biosciences and Plasmidsaurus.
User Guide:
- Drop boxes are located in FNT.
- Samples are shipped out Monday through Friday, promptly at 4:00 p.m.

Histology
Researchers have the option of working with Texas A&M University (TAMU) and Histowiz for histology services.

Dry Ice and Liquid Nitrogen
For 24/7 access to dry ice and liquid nitrogen, please follow these instructions:
- Complete OH 241 Cryogen Safety course available through UTLearn.
- To make a purchase, please complete this order form using your own computer or the one in the room.
- If you need to add your PI to our access list, please contact BioResCo.
- Self-service pick up is in MBB 1.122.
