The Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility provides services, self-service equipment, and collaborative research for the detection, characterization, and quantification of proteins and other biomolecules. The facility lab is located in MBB 1.420 (College of Natural Sciences). We are participating in the UT System Proteomics Core Facility Network.

Contact us by phone at 512-471-2895 or email to pmaf@austin.utexas.edu

We are located at 2500 Speedway in MBB 1.420 and operating hours are M-F 9 am – 5 pm.

We use FBS for online sample submission at same site as the DNA and Microscopy Facilities. If you do not have an account yet, please email us at pmaf@austin.utexas.edu and we will send you an invitation to create one.

Please email the Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility staff before submission for a consultation on what type of analysis is best for your experiment.

Please visit the Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility Wiki for protocols and FAQs.

Please acknowledge use of core services and equipment using our RRID number RRID:SCR_021728 and send us citations. These citations will affect funding for the facility. Here is an example: “Protein identification was provided by the UT Austin Center for Biomedical Research Support Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility (RRID:SCR_021728).”
