About the program

Faculty, post-docs, and grad students attended this informative session, as Wynn Coggins, Group Director at the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), focused on the increasing importance of the university’s role in intellectual property rights and protection of those rights. In her role as USPTO lead for the Patent Examiner Technical Training Program, Ms. Coggins matches innovators and inventors with patent examiners to provide training and education on emerging technologies.Kevin Meek and Brian Oaks, from Baker Botts LLP, provided an overview of patent law to support university innovation, featuring real-world examples. A cocktail reception and networking followed the program.
