Bridging Barriers Working Group Meeting – Equity Through Social Change

Jul 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

If you plan to attend, please RSVP here.

The goal of this meeting is to continue mapping out collaborative projects that will address four major research areas in the Equity Through Social Change theme:

  • How does discrimination (based upon race, immigration status, gender or other identities) affect population health disparities?
  • How do language and mediated images shape the identities of marginalized and disenfranchised communities and how can they be used to address critical fractures between social groups?
  • How can we better understand and address the changing nature of inequality in Central Texas, especially with respect to issues regarding childhood adversity, housing, health, education, and poverty?
  • How can this research on equity through social change in Texas be applied to understanding and addressing similar challenges facing marginalized and disenfranchised groups in other U.S. states or countries around the world?

For more information about these research areas and projects that are being proposed, view the notes from the June 2017 meeting, which are posted at the Equity Through Social Change Canvas site.

If you can’t access the Canvas site, let us know.
