Compound Microscopes

The Zeiss Axiovert 200M is a widefield fluorescence microscope fitted with a 100W Hg lamp variable intensity power supply.  The instrument has fluorescence filter cubes for a wide range of dyes including DAPI, CFP, FITC, GFP, YFP, TRITC, CY5 and CFP/YFP FRET.  Brightfield and DIC imaging for high magnification is also availalbe.

  • Plan-Apochromat 20X; NA = 0.80, WD = 0.55
  • Plan-Apochromat 40X (oil); NA = 1.4, WD = 0.21

Incubation: The microscope has incubation modules for the control of both temperature and CO2.

The Nikon Ni-E upright motorized fluorescence microscope is equipped with a monochromatic camera for widefield fluorescence imaging and a color camera for brightfield and DIC imaging. It is fully motorized and has precision focus control. It has filters for DAPI, GFP, mCherry, and Cy5.

The Nikon Ts2R inverted fluorescence microscope is a compact inverted microscope that provides fluorescence, phase, and brightfield imaging using a motorized stage and focus. It has a monochromatic camera and filters for DAPI, CFP, GFP, YFP, TRITC, mCherry, and Cy5. It also has extra-long working distance objectives that can image through a plastic well plate.

  • Plan Fluor 10x Ph1; NA = 0.3, WD = 16 mm

The Nikon high content analysis system provides automated, high-speed acquisition of well plates using fluorescence, DIC, phase, or brightfield imaging. Samples can be incubated during imaging, and the software can be configured for plate handling, focus and stage control, and image analysis. It is equipped with a monochromatic camera for fluorescence imaging and a color camera for brightfield imaging. There are filters available for DAPI, CFP, GFP, YFP, TRITC, mCherry, and Cy5.

The Nikon 90i stereology microscope is run with MBF Stereology software and is fitted with an Excite fluorescent lamp and Halogen lamp for brightfield imaging. The instrument has fluorescence cubes for GFP and RFP. Images are captured on a color camera and are analyzed using MBF Stereology analysis tools.

  • Plan-Apo 4X; NA = 0.20, WD = 20
  • Plan-Apo 20X; NA = 0.70, WD = 1
  • Plan 50X (oil); NA = 0.9, WD = 0.35

  • Plan 100X (water immersion), NA = 1.10

The Nikon Eclipse Ni compound light microscope is used for general transmitted light images. The microscope is equipped with a Nikon DS-Ri2 color camera. Several objectives are fitted with optics for DIC and phase.
